Polson, Montana
This charming lakeside community is the trading center for one of Montana’s most fertile farming areas. In a prime cherry growing region and home to numerous cherry orchards, Polson celebrates with an annual Cherry Festival downtown Polson. Downtown Polson is the site of many other festivities throughout the year as well as the site of Polson’s Farmers’ Market. Check out one of the local museums, or drive to the nearby Bison Range near Pablo.

Bigfork, Montana
You must check out this little Flathead gem! Bigfork is home to the cutest downtown area with a handful of great restaurants, including the best sushi around, and a secret speakeasy located under the Show Thyme restaurant. If you get the chance, don’t miss out on the Bigfork Playhouse, a theater where stars are born!
Walk through the shops, or take the River Walk—a 3 mile trail along the Swan River. Kayakers from across the country come to this “Wild Mile” every Memorial Day to race the river. If you’re visiting on this weekend, checking out the Bigfork Whitewater Festival is a must!
Whitefish, Montana
The ski resort on Whitefish Mountain is a national landmark. But it’s something to see in the summer months as well. Whitefish Lake and downtown Whitefish make this vibrant, yuppie town a must-see year round!
Downtown has some of the best shopping in all of Montana, and the best food too! You could easily spend an entire day driving up to the ski resort (for the views) or shopping til you drop downtown.
Kalispell, Montana
Kalispell is the hub for the Flathead Valley. While it’s not the first stop on our “things to do list,” you can do all your essential shopping here. Or visit the Hockaday Museum of Art to kill time while downtown.
Some of our favorite places to check out in “the big city” are Sportsman & Ski Haus for all your outdoor recreation gear; Sassafrass Arts & Crafts; The Knead Cafe for breakfast and lunch; The Toggery for clothing and accessories shopping; and an honorable mention to Mercantile Steak for the best dinner in town!
Hot Springs Soak
Hot Springs Montana is a secret oasis, perfect for the chilly spring and autumn days in Montana. While it may seem like a run-down old town, Hot Springs is a diamond in the rough!
Visit the Symes Hotel and soak in their mineral baths. Don’t be fooled by appearances, this historic building is rustic and cool with an on-site restaurant and gift shop. Pay to soak for the day, and take advantage of the private bathtubs, flowing with 100% mineral-rich water that smell of sulfur and leaves your skin silky smooth.
